 2016 Preview 


       With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region 8, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. West Limestone reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Cordova by a score of 39-7.

       Since 2010, West Limestone has gone a combined 37-29. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, West Limestone has managed to compile a record of 101-155. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 4A and 288th in the AHSAA.

       The Wildcats are led by head coach Jordan Cantrell who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 11-11 over the past two seasons at West Limestone. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cantrell.

       Coach Cantrell's overall record as a head football coach in two seasons stands at 11-11 (50.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Cantrell's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

       The Wildcats enter the 2016 season riding a 6 game regular season winning streak.

      The West Limestone Wildcats will play in Class 4A region 8 during the 2016 season.

       The Wildcats should contend for a playoff spot in Region 8 this season.

       The Wildcats open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Tanner on Friday, August 19 at James Kennemer Stadium. Last year the Tanner Rattlers finished with an overall record of 11-1 and in first place in Class 2A region 6. The Rattlers lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to Ranburne by a score of 56-55.

       West Limestone and Tanner have met a total of 61 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 26-33-2 record against the Rattlers. They last met in 2018 with West Limestone winning by a score of 39-20.

       West Limestone returns 4A All-State Senior punter Chase Lancaster. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Wildcats also return Senior defensive back Reed Blankenship. He was named to the first team.
